Arcturus

  • Why I picked it:
    • Arcturus is believed to be one of the first stars named by ancient obserevers. Its name translates to "Guardian of the Bear" and was a name once used for the whole constellation of Bootes. Arcturus is also the fourth brightest star that is visible with the naked eye. It is thought to be approximately 10 billion years old (twice as old as the earth) which means it is most likely the oldest thing we will ever see in our lifetimes.
